Game Changing Moment is a phrase used in sports when a player or team altar’s the momentum or outcome of a game. As I took a closer look at this phrase it reveled a deeper and more complex meaning. It is not necessarily equated with sports or the moment itself but rather the preparation/vision that leads to the moment. The relevant term here is “change”, which you all know is inevitable.
As a coach assembling a team evaluation and character are foundational. Many players have challenges they must over come. Bad habits or experience, poor work ethics or shaky integrity all wrapped in a football uniform. Jesus called them grave clothes: a mental state, situation or conditioned influenced by the past. Layer and layer of grave clothes: bondage, hatred, violence and bitterness rooted in ones alienation from God.
Coaching can assist in changing those grave clothes, positioning a player for greatness. But the process of combining the position with the experience is challenging. This development requires an individual to commit to learning at the positional level first then the experiential level. This progression often times is not immediately visible but the more committed you are to the process the quicker the vision comes into focus.
